Matric CPF
The Manenberg Community Police Forum together with the Manenberg South African Police Services and supported by the Department of Community Safety, have embarked on an event to celebrate the achievements of the top 2017 matriculants within our precinct, who have performed exceptionally well despite some serious challenges they faced during the year and even while writing their final examinations
Step Aboard
Step Aboard is a tutoring initiative which was started by Sam Henkeman. They strive to get Manenberg students to a better understanding of mathematics. The tutors are always on track with the learners, working with them in class to make sure nobody gets left behind or does not understand while the class is being taught. Boot camps are held to revise the work done for the quarter including the question papers and to introduce some new work for the new quarter. It takes place for a week and this gives the participant a head start to the new quarter. This reinforces the concepts. Importantly the bulk of the tutors are from Manenberg meaning they know the environment, having attended schools in the area.
Manenberg Library Reading Competition
On an annual basis the schools in the area are invited to enter learners into a competition to evaluate their reading skills. Students are encouraged to read one of several prescribed pieces in front of the audience attending. The Trust has over the past years donated tablets towards the prize giving.
